Agreement of Collaboration between Fu Jen Catholic University and Fuji Women's University
President, Fuji Women's University
Sr. Yoshiko Nagata
We established the Center for Exchange Programs two years ago in order to focus on international academic exchanges. Since that time, we have been making progress under Dr. Oishi's directorship. Forming sister relationships with other schools in Asia, we initiated an exchange program with the Catholic University of Korea last year. In addition, we visited Fu Jen Catholic University in Taiwan on December 12th of last year and signed an agreement of academic exchange with them.
Fu Jen University is a Catholic university, like Fuji Women's University, and is located next to Taipei city. This is a large school with a student enrollment of approximately 20,000. It has schools of Literature, Art, Foreign Languages, Science and Engineering, Public Welfare, Law, Social Science, Management and Medical Science. It seems promising that students and faculty members at Fuji can exchange within the Foreign Language and Public Welfare programs. Foreign Languages has a Department of Japanese Literature with a graduate school. They encourage students to study not only Japanese language but also Japanese literature. It is sufficient that Fuji students in the Japanese teaching course can complete their practicum at Fu Jen. Faculty and staff warmly welcome our students and they gave us permission to begin the exchange for students' practicums to start next year. Likewise, students from Fu Jen Catholic University are invited to study as an exchange student or to participate in the Intensive Japanese Course at Fuji Women's University.
The Public Welfare Department at Fu Jen has Sections in Applied Life Science, Food Dietetics and Child and Family Welfare. The course content in these curricula is identical to Fuji Women's University. I expect a short-term exchange between students and faculty to begin in the near future. Since some teachers at Fu Jen have the experiences of having studied in Japan, and some of them speak Japanese fluently, it is expected that we may concretely promote the exchange program with those teachers in our Department of Human Life Studies.
Let's exchange with Universities in Asia, too.
